For Paul Baerenstecher and Jim Elliott, the new owners of Rockne's, this has been a very busy year. A fixture on the SOM & Aurora Road corner for six years, Rockne's had begun it's stay in Solon as a corporate owned and run establishment searching for it's identity in the local community. The change to local ownership in 2002 and the arrival of the new management team of Baerenstecher and Elliott has quickly produced an new, refreshing feel to the entire restaurant. As the local restaurant scene is extremely competitive, Paul and Jim knew that they had to develop a new vision for the restaurant if they wanted to succeed in getting a jump on their competition and in making Rockne's into a leading member of the local business community. They started the ball rolling with a remodeling that replaced the former dark, pub-like decor with a brighter, lighter feel that is more in line with the fun filled, family atmosphere that they want to project. The next step was to find a staff that realized that their customers were actually their guests and that their job was to make these guests feel as comfortable as they would with guests in their own home. Emphasis was placed on selecting employees possessing positive mental attitudes to ensure that each guest would be treated to a purely pleasurable experience. The third item on their agenda was, naturally, the food itself. Rockne's is becoming well known for providing the freshest food available in portions that can only be described as large, maybe even huge. Even their french fries are cut fresh daily and their kitchen staff makes sure you get plenty of them. Still, if you don't feel you've gotten your fill, a word to your server will get you a refill. Paul and Jim have designed their menu to deliver not only the freshest food available but also an incredible value for your dining dollar. Their goal for the new Rockne's is to provide you with friendly, friendly service, a great product, and a great experience all at a great price. Paul, a Solon resident, wants to provide his community with great food, great service, and an all 'round great experience and he personally guarantees it. To show their guests how much they appreciate them, Rockne's held a guest appreciation day in October 2002 where everyone received 50% off on their food order. It turned out to be a great day for everyone and they were absolutely packed to the rafters. Everyone had so much fun that they'll be doing it again this year just to show how much they appreciate their guests and enjoy being part of the Solon community. The next time you're looking for a "guaranteed good time" for your family or maybe a quick, delicious lunch that will get you back to the office in plenty of time, stop by Rockne's and while you're there, don't forget to tell them that The Advocate sent you! |
